The Red Tent, review by:
This is a fictional account of the wives of Jacob of the Old Testament by Dinah, his daughter. Ultimately, it's a beautiful story, but I must warn any potential readers of one thing that briefly detracts from that: a violent and highly disturbing description of Laban, Jacob's father-in-law, sexually abusing sheep. This author has such a great gift, so why she felt it necessary to mar an otherwise profound and wonderful story escapes me. But if you can set that part of this fictional tale aside, this story will stay with you (in a good way) for a long time.
